What is MTGO TOOLBOX ?
I love Magic and play sometimes IRL, but massively online, with the great Magic Online (MTGO). But MTGO has one default : it's a software. So, how can I continue to make news decks when I'm at work ( just an example :) ) ?
I could use some of online deckbuilders, but none has really convinced me, because I'm too used to the MTGO deckbuilder. I love the way it allows to search cards, it is more friendly than all others deckbuilder's search options I've found.
So I decided to make an online tool, for deckbuilding, with the "MTGO touch". And the idea of the VS Deck maker was born.
The VS Creator was then followed : the idea was to used the same intuitive filter than the VS Deck maker to explore each set and format of Magic.

That's why mtgotoolbox.com is born : to put online my tools and allow me to access it everywhere in the world ( I'm a "Web" addict, I never go somewhere where I can't have access to the Web ).
At start, the webiste was accessible at mtg.keryas.com. But I changed this year for an URL which feels more Magic. But there is no other real change to the core of my tools, except that I always try to improve it.
I share these tools because I'm just think that if it's useful to me, may be some others people will be glad to use it.
So, if you are one of these peoples, have fun with it ! And tell me if you find a bug, I can't see all the errors by myself : the tools are more complex to maintain and evolve that I thought when I started my work.

Dark Ascension will not be added
I know that Dark Ascension is out and in the Gatherer. But WOTC has modify again the Gatherer format and my update engine doesn't work anymore.

I must updated before DKA could be added in my database, and I have not the time right now.
I'll work on it when I'll have time but it could take a long, since my work and my family need my full attention these days.
I'm really sorry.

Innistrad is coming
If some of you wonder why Innistrad is not yet present on the site, it's because I have to wait for the WOTC's Gatherer update. I find all the information of each set from it. Once it is updated, my site will be too. I think it should happen tomorrow or Friday, we just have to be patient ...

New functionality
  • In VS Creator and VS Deck Maker, when you click on the left and the right button of your mouse, a big scan of the cards appears, like in MTGO. Thank you to refresh the page several times to make sure that the update to take effect by your browser.
For now, this is just the same image resized. I start looking for better quality scans, but I promise anything.

Some bug fixed
  • Filter on conv.cost, power or toughness, when "Instant search" is activated now works properly.
  • I added a "Contact" link in the footer.
  • For your information, I work on the recovery of the cards translated into other languages, but I must first make sure everything works properly in English before I can upload the translated versions. So, if you see a bug, don't hesitate to tell me (that's why I added "Contact" :) )

Some bug fixed
I have fixed the "All Cards" edition in the filter. It now works, but it's long to load all the cards if you don't add others criters than the edition. Nevertheless, you could use it to make search in all Magic cards.

  • The "VS Creator" has been added. You could use it to made a visual spoiler, or a text spoiler of any edition you choose. You could also use it to search cards.

New functionality
  • I added a new counter in the workbook : you now have the number of cards (depending on quantity), and the number of differents cards of the chosen format or edition.
  • The page "Your configuration" has been created. You can set your preferences for the tools for some options like :
    • Instant Search
    • Load an edition or a format as soon you open a tool
    • Display card qty on scan, or not, in the VS Deck Maker
    Just go on the page for more explanations.

Some bug fixed
  • The right click menu is now better managed and disappears when a mouse-click occurs elsewhere than on the menu
  • In the VS Deck Maker, "Save Deck"/"Load Deck"/"Export Deck" works properly
  • "No User Connected" has been replaced by a friendly "Welcome !"
  • Infinite quantity of cards, in the VS Deck Maker, has been increased from 99 to 999. If someone finds that it is not enough, please tell me

New functionality
You can now find a new checkbox and a new button in the card filter, in the Deck Maker :
  • if the checkbox "Instant Search" is clicked, the button "Launch Search" is disabled. Every time you modify the filter, a search is launched.
  • If you uncheck the checkbox, a search is launched only if you clicked the button. This can be useful to define a filter on several criteria without having to launch a fruitless search.

  • The multicolor search works correctly.

Retrieving password
The recovery system your account works. If you forgot your password or login, click on "Forgot login or password?" in the Login box and enter the email address for your account.
An email containing your login information will be sent to this address. The password is given a password by default, which may be changed after you login.

Account Migration executed
All members of mtg.keryas.com just received an email informing them that their accounts had been migrated.
The migration of accounts is complete : it does not include, however, the migration of decks.
If you have a real need to see your decks transferred from the old to the new site, please send me an email with your account login : I'll do then the transfer.

New interface for deck builder

Update : Deck Stats
The statistics (mana curve and others stats) are now available. This works like the old version. I'm trying to make graphics stats, but it's more complicated than I excepted. Nevertheless, I think the new Deck Builder is finish now.

Update : Export OCTGN abandoned !
Bad news: I can not maintain export OCTGN since the new version of this application use some internal card id in its decks. Except if someone is able to give me the correspondence between the names of Magic cards and ID cards used in OCTGN, I'll have to abandon this option.

Update
  • You can now export decks for Magic Workstation and for Apprentice. I'm still working on OCTGN.
  • When you export a deck, download link really works now ! You can left-click on it to launch download, or right-click to save the deck wherever you want.
  • Click on the text in the "Export Format" checks the associated radio button.
  • The useless button "Export" in the "Save box" has disappear.
  • I correct few bugs in the choice of the export options.

Update
  • You can now add more than one cards with right-click. To do it, read the following instructions (in fact, it works like in MTGO) :
    • Select all the cards you want to add in your deck by holding the ATL (or CTRL) key and press the left-button of your mouse-
    • Then right-click on any of the cards you've selected to show the right-click menu, while keeping your selection.
    • Use the right-click menu as usual, to add your selection in your deck
    • Note : be careful to only right-click on a selected card if you want to add all your selection. Otherwise, right-click will erase your selection and only select one card.
  • The bug with "Tribal" filter is corrected.
  • The number of workbook cards are now correct, even after launching a new search
  • You mustn't anymore need to click on the words in the drop down menu to activate command : click just the bar is enough
  • For security reasons, when you save decks, your deckname will be automatically parse to a correct name :
    - only alphanumerical characters are allowed (a-z and 0-9)
    - all others characters will be suppressed, except white space that will be replaced by "_"
    - your deck name must have at least 3 characters
  • You can't save empty deck anymore.
  • You must now select a deck before use the button "load"
  • In the "load deck" box, when you move the mouse over rows to choose a deck, rows are now highlighted
  • You can now delete your decks. You must confirm the action before it really takes effect.

Open Beta
Only the VS Deck Maker has been developped. I hesitate to rename my 2 tools ... I would see later.
For now, the new features that allow the tool to be much closer to MTGO:
  • Select by left click (single or multiple by holding down the Alt key or Ctrl key)
  • Moving cards between workbook, deck and side by:
    • right click (a menu will appear)
    • menu in the header of each "pool" of cards
  • The workbook, deck and side are resizable
  • You can switch for "scan" or "Text" Mode for each pool
  • No more limitations in terms of loading maps: you can load all the maps if you want (just need to be patient for initial scans)
  • The filter has also been revised: the right click can now be used to select a single color, type or rarity. The old method still works (by pressing Alt and left-clicking, you get the same result)
  • FYI, you will have the option in your account options to disable the right click menu if you can not stand the context menu of your browser or by-pass.
  • You can sort tables by clicking on their header
  • You can save and load your deck, only if you have an account and you are logged.
  • Lot of things are coming, be sure that all the old features will be added (such as foreign scans and cards) et full of new ones will be added
  • Card's Data has been added : Artist, Number, Flavor Text. And you can make search on these criteria.
